Staff Bios
Kristin Bishay is the CASA Director. Kristin joined the FSA staff in the spring of 2002 and became the CASA program director in November 2007. She brought with her social service experience coupled with 18 years in management. She trained as a CASA volunteer in 1996 actively taking cases for seven years. She worked with children and families as a direct client service provider for five years.
Deborah Dunning is the Senior Case Supervisor. She received her Master's degree in social work from IU in 1984, and holds a license in clinical social work from the State of Indiana. Her work experience includes developing and administering a program for pregnant and parenting teens. Deborah was a staff member with the CASA program from 1991-2001. She left CASA and worked at IU in international programs before returning to CASA in February 2005.
Sandy Rampley is the Training Coordinator of the CASA program. Sandy received her Master's Degree in Social Work from IU in 1983, and holds a license in clinical social work from the State of Indiana. Her work experience includes serving five years as a child protective service caseworker and five years as a school social worker. She has been with the CASA program since August 2001.
Tiffany Kinney is the Assistant Director. Tiffany received her B.S. in Public Health Education from IU in 1997. Prior to coming to CASA, Tiffany worked in program planning and development in the not-for-profit sector. In her previous positions, Tiffany has had experience working with volunteers and children. She has extensive experience in program management, fundraising and volunteer supervision. Tiffany joined the CASA program in January 2003.
Anne Veldman is a Case Supervisor. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Indiana University in 1988 and a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from University of the Pacific in 1993. She practiced Physical Therapy for seven years with her focus being spinal cord injuries before switching gears and becoming a stay at home mom. As her children grew she became immersed in children's activities including coaching youth soccer, teaching religious education and substituting at her children's school. Upon moving to Bloomington in 2005, Anne became a child advocate for the Monroe County CASA program.
Amanda Wyatt is the Program Assistant. After receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Legal Studies from Indiana University in 2006, Amanda began working as a juvenile probation officer. Amanda is currently completing course work towards her Master's Degree in Criminology from Indiana State University. Amanda joined the CASA program in August 2010.

Board Bios
Richard Jenness is the father of ten children and has lived in Indiana since 1999. He is active in whatever the activities of his children are at church and at school. He has served in various capacities in support of those activities. In addition to serving CASA he is a member of the board of directors for MAYO (Musical Arts Youth Orchestra). He is an independent Financial Advisor with Sterne Agee and has been in that industry since 1997.
He believes that active safe environments for todays children to grow and develop in are key to their success as well as for the future of our country. Working together we can create a better tomorrow.
Before his retirement, Bob LeBien was Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Global Trading for a major U.S. bank with experience in Europe, Asia and the U.S. He has been involved in community activities for over 50 years serving on international, national and local boards and committees including co founder of the International Patient Organization for Primary Immunodeficiencies, the Immune Deficiency Foundation, the Community Foundation of Bloomimgton and Monroe County, and the National Advisory Board of the Indiana University Art Museum, .among other organizations. He is a new member of the CASA board.
Beth Bryant retired from Social Work in Monroe County after 20 years. While working for Child Protective Services she had an opportunity to see the services that are provided by CASA volunteers and staff and became a strong CASA supporter.
Kendra Gjerdingen is a partner in the law firm Mallor Grodner LLP. Her practice concentration includes family law and jurisdiction, interstate and international custody disputes, appeals, and civil litigation. She has a J.D. and an M.B.A. Kendra is a Registered Family Law Mediator and a Certified Family Law Specialist, by the Family Law Certification Board. She is a past-chair of the Indiana State Bar Association Appellate Practice Section, and is currently on the council of the Family and Juvenile Law Section of the ISBA and the Family Law Certification Board. Kendra has served as a volunteer attorney for the CASA program since 1996, as well as a pro bono attorney through the District 10 Pro Bono Project.
Kendra has been recognized as an Indiana Super Lawyer in family law, since 2009, and received the Indiana Bar Foundation Pro Bono Publico Award, in 2005. She is a frequent guest lecturer at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in family law and professional responsibility, and also gives continuing legal education presentations in family law and appellate practice. Kendra is married to Donald Gjerdingen, who is a law professor at the Maurer School of Law, and they have two children and a granddaughter.
David Hays is the founder, president and senior consultant of Comprehensive Financial Consultants, Inc., located in Bloomington, Indiana. His firm was chartered to deliver financial planning and investment advice to individuals, businesses, retirement plans and not-for-profit organizations. David is also the host of Your Money with David Hays, a weekly Saturday morning financial radio program on WGCL.
David is active with various local organizations that care for children. As a fifth-generation Bloomington resident, David sees the value of providing good support - emotionally, physically, financially and educationally - to the children of Bloomington and Monroe County in order to build the community. David and his family have long supported The Villages of Bloomington, COTA - Children's Organ Transplant Association and various local youth sports activities.
Joyce McMahan Cookman joined the CASA board two and a half years ago. She is currently an instructional developer for the Indiana University School of Continuing Studies. Much of her working life has been devoted to education and communication .as a high school journalism and English teacher, an English/Language Arts content specialist in assessment and curriculum, an editor of an intergenerational newsletter promoting literacy, a public relations officer for a financial institution. and a journalist. Besides her CASA board affiliation, she also serves on the personnel committee of her church and the corporation board of an IU sorority.
She's a native of central Indiana who never imagined when she graduated from IUB in 1970 that 20 years (one husband, two sons, stops in New York City, Syracuse, NY; Louisville, KY; Miami, FL; and Princeton, NJ) later she'd be back in Bloomington. However, her career and life experiences only reconfirm the value of CASAs: volunteers who hear the silenced and give them a voice.
Jeanette Heidewald is a Senior Lecturer in Business Communication at the Kelley School of Business. Her course offers honors-level sophomores opportunities to build knowledge and skills in professional writing, presentations, leadership, and strategic argument.
Inspired by her own early years and Monroe County CASA's mission, Jeanette joined the CASA board in 2011 to spread community awareness of the need for volunteers and donations to help abused and neglected children involved in the local juvenile court system.
Emily Metzgar is assistant professor at Indiana University School of Journalism. Her research focuses on public diplomacy and the role of media in society. She has a PhD from Louisiana State University, an MA from The George Washington University and a BA from the University of Michigan.
Before moving to Bloomington in 2008, Emily served as a CASA volunteer, a case supervisor, and a board member for Volunteers for Youth Justice in Shreveport, Louisiana. She also published research about media access to juvenile courts and advised Louisiana's gubernatorial transition team on juvenile justice reform issues in 2007 and 2008. Emily has been on the Monroe County CASA board since 2010.

- Hired by MCCSC in fall of 85 and worked at Clear Creek Elementary until 1992
- Started a Lawn and Landscape company (LawnTech) in 91. Still provides part time work to this day.
- Hired at St. Charles School in 2000 and worked there until the fall of 2006.
- Hired by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bloomington in September of 2006
- Married to wife Nancy (26 years)

- Enjoys the outdoors...especially fishing and hunting. Enjoys all sports as a spectator and participant.

Alison Leslie is the Founder/Director/Clinician of Positive PAWSibilities. Positive PAWSibilities is an alternative approach to coaching and counseling. Therapeutic programs are designed based on the unique needs of the individual or family. Positive PAWSibilities custom programs utilize positive interactions with animals to help youth and families discover new tools for healthy social and communication skills. Through these programs, Alison helps youth and families learn to treat all living beings with respect, empathy, and kindness.
Alison has spent many years working as a therapist with youth in foster care as well as helping families stay together and keeping kids out of the Child Welfare System. She believes that the greater community, including trusting adults, can have a dramatic and positive impact on children who are victims of abuse and neglect and therefore became a member of the CASA Board in Sept. 2011. Alison and her therapy dog Marley, also volunteers with VIPaws at the Rise and Bloomington Public Library.
Andy Allard is Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for IU Credit Union. He directs the branch operations, risk management, retail lending, and member service support functions of the credit union. Previously, he served as a Board Member of the Marion County Chapter of Prevent Child Abuse of Indiana before moving to Bloomington four years ago. In addition to serving and supporting Monroe County CASA, he is a Board Member of Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County and is a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.
Tammy M. Minger is the owner of Minger Law Office located in Bloomington, Indiana. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in philosophy in 1984 from Indiana State University, where she graduated cum laude. She attained her J.D. degree from Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington, in 1988. She was a Monroe County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney from 1988 until 1997, at which time she left the prosecutor's office to open her law office. While a deputy prosecutor, Tammy prosecuted a wide range of cases, but her concentration was in the area of domestic violence. She has served as a volunteer attorney for the CASA program for several years, as well as a pro bono attorney for the Protective Order Project for Indiana University. She is on the Board of Directors for CASA and for the Monroe County Bar Association. She helps train CASA volunteers as well as CASA pro bono attorneys. Tammy was been recognized by Middle Way House in 1992 for her service to victims of domestic violence, was given the U.S. Department of Justice Award for Public Service in 1995, and was named Attorney of the Year by the Indiana University Protective Order Project in 2004. Tammy.s practice concentrates in the areas of family law and adoption. She lives in Bloomington with her husband, Jerry, and they have four children.

I could volunteer for many organizations that help children, but CASA is unique. CASA trains volunteers to serve an extraordinary role for children involved in the court system. Because of CASA, volunteers can make an incredible difference in the life of a child and help stop the cycle of abuse for future generations.
David Wright is the Director of Indiana Operations for Sabre Systems, a provider of professional and engineering contract services to the commercial and government clients including NSWC Crane. Dave oversees the operations of the office including business development, program management, recruitment and community involvement. Dave retired from Crane after 22 years in various organizational and project management positions and worked in similar capacities in private industry for 17 years.
Dave has been active in the CASA program since 2002 as a volunteer, strategic planning advisor, fund raiser and now on the BOD of CASA, Inc. Dave is currently the Vice President of the Leadership Bloomington-Monroe County Alumni Association. He holds a certificate in Nonprofit Management from the IU School of Continuing Studies and a BSME from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Beth McDaniel-Krouse was a CASA volunteer for over 10 years. That volunteer experience compelled her to return to school after 15+ years in the financial institution world and pursue a degree in Social Work. For the past 13 years she has been working with children and families in a variety of capacities. Currently she works for the Richland-Bean Blossom Community School Corporation as the Family & Community Engagement Coordinator and also does home-based services through Family Solutions, with youth challenged by truancy issues.
In addition to the professional staff positions, the CASA program makes use of work/study employees, interns, and office volunteers.
